Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant—AZ
ARCADIS served as the project manager / owners’ representative for this project, which is jointly owned by two Arizona municipalities: the Town of Gilbert and the City of Chandler. Because of this unique joint ownership, an important aspect of ARCADIS’s role was to represent both clients with fairness and objectivity, and in a way that quickly resolved any differences of opinion and approach.
As project manager / owners’ representative, ARCADIS was responsible for representing the clients’ interests on the project. This included interacting with the architect, contractor, and construction manager-at-risk to monitor progress and the overall quality to make certain that the project was in continual conformance with the schedule and budget.
The Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant has been designed to treat 24 million gallons of water per day, with an ultimate future capacity of 48 million gallons per day, which is expected to be achieved by 2013. In addition, the site contains a six million gallon water reservoir and is surrounded by an eight foot high security wall, which is set back from the property line to allow low-water-use desert landscaping that highlights the plants harmony with the surrounding environment.
There is an additional 100 foot “good neighbor easement” inside the perimeter wall to minimize the visual impact of the plant’s structures, the height of which were constructed with sensitivity to the surrounding properties in mind. The plant capacity will be shared equally by Gilbert and Chandler, with each community receiving exactly half of the water.
